Christmas Activities

Of course Christmas activities had to start with going and visiting Santa. This was the first year that Jake actually visited Santa and well he was ok with his brother with him but by himself, not so much.

We were also lucky enough to score tickets to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert that featured the Sesame Street Muppets.  Normally the kids would have been to young to go but this year they made an exception. We had so much fun just wished that it had started earlier than 8 pm. By the end the kids were so tired because it didn't start till their normal bedtime. They were troopers though.  We started with dinner at McDonalds which wasn't the adults favorite but the kids were sure excited.  Grandma and Papa Hatch came too and we all just had so much fun, don't these girls just look so cute.

Big Bird was conducting the choir!
Our seats were pretty high up and everything looked tiny in that really large room, but I felt like it was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity and the fact that we got 8 tickets was really unheard of.
Luckily it was a relatively warm night so we didn't freeze walking back to our cars.

Next on the list of events was Derek's 1st grade Christmas program.  He was so excited to sing all the songs that they had learned and recite their Christmas poems.  Grandma Cindy was able to come and watch and he was so proud of himself.  We were pretty proud of him too.

One of our new Favorite traditions is Friday night movie nights.  We make homemade pizza, get out layout a blanket and all watch movies on the floor in the family room.  We really look forward to it, and we are trying different kinds of pizza!  This night was Christmas movie night!

And last but not least we had to make Christmas Cookies for Santa.  We made so many that we took some to our cousins so that they could make some too and Santa didn't have to many cookies to eat at our house.   Jake was in love with decorating his cookies, and tried to pick off every sprinkle individually.
