Derek and his friend Jesse Button.  He sure misses Jesse since we moved to Santaquin.

Easter

Showing off his loot.

The Easter Bunny brought a plane just like one that Corey used to play with when he was a kid, they definitely don't make them the same as they used too.  It didn't last more than one day.

preschool graduation

Derek finished his 2nd year of Preschool in May and he loved this year.  He seemed to really flourish this year and loved learning.  We just hope that excitement carries over into Kindergarten.  They did a darling little program for graduation and he did so good.  He told everyone he wanted to be a Monster Truck Driver when grew up (I guess we will just have to see on that one).

he looks so excited for his graduation program.

preparing for baby jake

It seemed like we were going to run out of time to get everything done on our new house before Jake came.  I was getting nervous.  One night was just spent putting the crib, dresser, etc together.  Derek couldn't wait to help and had to pull out his own tools to help.  We thought it was pretty cute!

T-shirt from cousin Eileen.  He wore this shirt to the hospital, when he came to meet his brother.

he couldn't wait to use his measuring tape.

He was convinced that his pliers would work just as easily as Daddy's

Jake's newborn pictures

I know this is so late considering the fact that Jake is now 3 months old, but my darling sister Dani took newborn pictures of Jake and I think they look darling.  She did such an amazing job and I'm so lucky to have a sister with such an amazing talent.  Thank you so much for them!  Just in case any of you need a great photographer visit her at capturedbydaniem.blogspot.com or give me a call I would be happy to pass her info on.

I love this beautiful quilt that my mom made for Jake!

I had a sweet friend Camille in our new ward that made this for me, one day I will have to have her show me how to crochet the chevron pattern.

Monster Truck Show 2013

Once again this year the boys went to the Monster Truck show.  I love that this tradition is something that they get to do every year.  I also love that this is something that Corey and his Dad used to do all the time as well.  Derek didn't know that is was Monster Truck day until right after his nap, he was so excited and could hardly wait to leave.  You can see by the pictures that this is always one of his favorite days of the year!  Derek has become much more aware of trucks this year, he is always aware of a big supped up truck or sports car that goes down the road.  And he loves building his own monster truck ramps and courses for his own toy trucks.

"I can't believe I'm really here!"

It really is so loud there so he has to wear the ear muffs

So many of his favorite trucks were there, monster mutt, El Torro Loco, and of course Grave Digger!

Father and Sons

Derek and Corey got to go to the Father and Son's camping trip with our new ward.  This was about 2 weeks after Jake was born, so it was really good for Derek.  He really needed a little bit of alone time with his Dad.  The new baby of course takes lots of attention so some one on one time was definitely in the cards. Mom really appreciated some quiet time with the baby as well.  They had so much fun and it was a good chance for the boys to get to know some of the members of our new ward.  We have such a great ward and they have just welcomed us with open arms.
Setting up camp at Santaquin Meadows

Camping and swings, Derek's in heaven

They couldn't have open fires due to fire restrictions, so the hibachi is all that they had but it worked.

to keep Derek warm Corey zips the sleeping bags together, that way Derek can snuggle up and stay toasty warm.

a highlight of a Preston family camping trip is always playing games late into the night.
