The monkey boots

Jake has been obsessed with these monkey rain boots and wants to wear them everywhere. Even around the house with no pants on, classy.

A New Adventure

This summer Corey started a new job and it is definitely a new adventure.  Corey is with the same company that he has worked for for the past 2 years but now he is an electrical estimator for them.  There are a lot of changes that come with this.  First of all he is no longer a Union man.  He is just working for the company which honestly is better because the benefits are amazing and for the first time in our married life he actually has paid days off and paid holidays.  He now sits at a desk all day which he is adjusting too, but he seems to love it.  He is working with a great group of guys and he is learning a lot.
This is the picture he sent to me after he got the call that he got the job. I'm so proud of him for going out of his comfort zone and trying something new.

First Day of 2nd Grade

I'm so lucky that Corey's new job allows him to have some time off.  Today he took a day off to take Derek to his first day of School.  Derek always thinks he's so special because its the only time this happens.  This kid is so excited for school this year and I think his teacher Ms. Lisonbee will be awesome!

Dripping rocks trail

We took the kids on the dripping rocks trail. It was fun and gorgeous. The paved trail is a plus because then I didn't have to carry Jake the whole time. The trail is part of the Spanish Fork River Trail. Definitely something that we will have to do again and again.

Piano Lesson

Derek started taking piano lessons and I love it. He is much better than I thought he would be and is catching on quickly, his teacher Jenna Travis is amazing and I can only hope that he continues to love it.  I truly believe that it has helped him so much already including in his reading level. He is reading much better than he even was at the end of the school year. Although I really feel for my parents who endured 9 years of my practicing, sometimes practicing is just painful.

Legos

Derek this summer has taken after his Dad and become addicted to Legos. I find them everywhere and am constantly telling him to put them away and do his chores, but secretly I love watching his mind come up with all his new projects.

Hill Aerospace Museum

Today we went with friends to Hill Aerospace Museum. The boys loved seeing all the planes. I especially loved seeing the planes that my Grandpa Hod flew in world war two. It was a good day to spend with friends.

Summer Water fights

Oh these boys love to play in the water. In fact, I've had to set rules about when they are allowed to turn the hose on. If I didn't it would be running all day everyday.

Santaquin Parade

So after 18 years of public service in different capacities, over 100 apparatus, multiple patrol cars, and multiple jurisdictions, Corey's mother informed him that she had never ridden in a fire truck driven by him.  So he decided to change that. Guess who rode in her first parade today? It was Jakes 1st time too and they both loved it.

The driver
The passengers
And they all loved throwing Candy!
The best part of the parade has to be that the last entry is always Olsens Greenhouse and they give out free potted plants to everyone!!
